Day 9: Love Makes Good Impressions

"Think of a specific way you'd like to greet your spouse today. Do it with a smile and with enthusiasm. Then determine to change your greeting to reflect your love for them."

Today was an out of routine day for us because Jay was home, and the kids and I had to stay gone from the house for several hours while we had some huge trees removed from our yard. That being said, after optometrist appointments for the big kids, hair cuts for all the boys, an errand at the bank, lunch in Slidell, a brief stop at Hudson's and dropping off some donation items in town, I was more than ready to get home... only I couldn't go in.

This is where I may have failed today's challenge. Jay and I always greet & depart with a hug or kiss, but after hours out with the littles (just to be out, no real plans involved) we were all ready to GO HOME. It was too cold to go to the park, and it was nearing nap time for me the littles, and patience was spread thin. Jay was trying to protect us from an errant fall of a tree, while I was willing to risk being flattened. That would never happen, right? Anyway, when he finally conceded to let us enter the house via a WIDE swath around the side of the house, I then totally felt like kissing him!

I also commit to making greetings about just that. A greeting. Not followed by a play-by-play about what "his children" did today. That can wait. Usually.

Dear God, I pray that greeting Jay, whether it be in the morning or after a long day at work, will be tender and sincere. Home should be a haven to come home to. If you'll tell the kids that, I promise to do my part.
